I installed the Wilber's rear shock spring only - and the Wilber's progressive fork springs and Seth LaForges +8mm links and 3 line preload spacer this weekend. A little backround - Im a short wide guy, short legs and all. 30" inseam pants are a little to long for me. I go about 275# (weight lifter type) and I ride 2up now and again. My wife is about 150#. This bike was too tall and too soft - but, I love it anyway. I droped the forks in the tripples 18mm. This, with the long dog bones lowered it almost an inch. (that's a huge help for me) I hope to get another inch out a seat rework. That should put my feet flat on the floor -ya-baby.

Here are a few numbers I got - preload full soft and my wide ass on the bike the sag is 1", thats OK, I think. With the preload full hard and both me and my wife on it the sag measures 1.5", thats also OK, I think. Sorry I can't tell you much about the front except I expect it to be very adjustable and compliant. (I have that from a friend that did the front, he is a Race-Tech trained suspension dude)

The snow in Minnesota is still ass deep so no riding. That by is self is killing me here. Not being able to ride my new V-Strom is causing me to have impure thoughts - about everything. Winter here really sucks. Well tell me what you guys think - am I on the right track or fucked up beyond belief. My wife thinks the latter most of the time. I think im closing in on it.
One big reason I bought the DL1000 was because it appeared to be very adjustable and adaptable and my wife would ride on it. (she wouldnt ride on my 03 Bandit) Well let me have it. What do you think?

sounds as tho you are headed in the right direction...since folks like us will NEVER get any taller and losing 100+ pounds is not a true alternative. let me know how things progress. i just acquired a dl650 as a 2nd bike and, altho my wife will not ride pillion due to artificial hip <paranoia> i am looking for ways to lower it about 1 inch. unfortunately, SUZI skimped on the front suspension so i will have to go the race-tech route. am waiting for answer from them on availability. moved to central PA from michigan so i know the 'snowed=in' syndrome....my wife wants to move back <UGH!>
