Are you looking at Suzuki sites using the old part number? I don't see a problem finding a proper filter otherwise.

Yes. Suzuki has been using the same filters for most of their bikes for longer than V-Stroms have been made.

Nothing wrong with using non-oem, a Hi-flo HF-138 or the K&N 138 version with the nut for easy removal is well proven and decent quality.

Suzuki oil filters are not that great, no need to bother with them. Always used HF-138s on my Suzuki bikes for many years. Local dealer sells them, they don't stock Suzuki filters, no one likes them around here. I do use OEM when it matters or there is a quality difference. I don't use Cummins OEM filters on my trucks because I rather run higher end Fleet Guard filters, the OEM which are made by Fleet Guard are of a lower cheaper line. Go figure. Research matters. I cut a Fram oil filter open myself, ain't going to run anymore unless I have no other choice. I pay around $5.50 for a HF-138 in bulk packs, well they do vary. Buy a 10 pack in the winter and SAVE, like that matters much anyway...

If you're already looking at the diagrams to order OEM parts, it's easy as pie -- the oil filter is on the "OIL PUMP" diagram.

Procycle.us has a V-Strom page where they group together common items for quick shopping. They sell Hi-Flo 10 packs, magnetic drain plugs, spark plugs, chain/sprocket kits etc.
