Anyone know if this is worth doing? How far in is it from 166? Would you recommend doing it on a Vee?
I started to last spring but was by myself during the week and it didnt look like somewhere you wanted to get stuck by yourself. No cell coverage...
Any input welcome.

I just did Soda Lake Road last weekend from the 166 to the 58 on a 1000 VStrom... my rding partner did it on a yamaha stratoliner. If it's dry you should have no problem... there are 2 stretches of dirt a couple miles each with a patch of paved road in the middle... go figure... it's not a rough ride though, surface is pretty much graded with a few washboard patches... about halfway through there's a pull off with port-a-john and an information board for local area info... if you're coming from the west and going back to the west it's definately a more scenic ride than going around through Maricopa and Taft... worth doing if you want to get from 166 to the 58... it's about 45 miles with no gas.. closest gas to the 166 and soda lake intersection is Maricopa... north end looks like McKittrick to the east... you can check out some pics here
