They shouldn't draw nearly enough to do that. Check that the wires to the clutch lever switch are solidly connected.

The only Blue/White wire I could find goes to the ECM. The headlight wires are Black/White ground, Yellow high beam and Black/Blue low beam.

Every V-Strom ever made has the same headlight color code. The only thing I can think of is you mistook the B/W ground wire as blue/white instead of black/white. B is black and Bl is blue. Folks have also screwed up Gr for gray and G for green.

I misread W/Bl as Bl/W. The wire you tapped into goes from the ECM to the #1 coil and signals the coil for the front cylinder to fire. It appears you killed that signal and were only running on the rear cylinder.
