I've got a friend lined up to do ND next summer.

No real plans except to ride. I like wide open spaces and ND fits the bill for that.

Planning to visit the Peace Garden, maybe ride along the border and across a few times. Back roads and camping.

Anyone chime in with information on ND riding?

Avoid Williston if at all possible. I was scared shitless going through there last summer. Two lane roads with 1 ton pick-up and semi trucks all going speedlimit +20.

I usually wear just the outer layer of a tourmaster flex jacket & pants..for long rides I take a Camelback along so I can sip fluids as I go..

Hey CollingsBob, if you catch this message fine, otherwise I'll PM you in a couple days.

Looks like the plan is to hit the Millville National (Spring Creek) on the 14th and head west after that.

I may be on a solo adventure. My buddies wife just had a stroke so he will most likely be taking care of her. I think early 50's so best of luck to her.

Let me know if you might be around for a ride.

My parents lived there for a while. The wide open spaces are great as I, too, like that part of it. However, hope you like wind...:beatnik:

actual data

Ended up doing a solo trip due to my friends wife having a health issue.

Illinois-Missouri-Iowa-Minn-SD-ND-Canada-ND-SD-Nebraska-Kansas-Missouri-Illinois

3223 miles.

Rain bad near Des Moines on the way up, Wind bad near Fort Sisseton, SD, otherwise wind not too much of an issue (awesome place to camp if anyone is in that area). 80 some degrees towards the upper half of ND was very nice . 100 deg in SD and Kansas not so good.

Camped six nights and hotel one night, Prairie Knights Casino on the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation, Fort Yates, ND. I was driving in the an annoying rain and booked a room before I arrived there. Fortunately they had fuel also because the rain caused me to skip the last fuel north of there.

Next AM found a very nice campground down by Lake Oahe that would have been a cool place to camp. At least I was able to charge up the cell phone.

last 1200 miles the bike was a sputter on acceleration, not that there was much accel. I did a fuel flow check when I arrived back home and only pumped 360ish cc's per minute versus spec of 2400 cc's. I am in the process of external HP filter mod right now.
