Well I'm in the market for a new helmet and I've decided I want to go with one of the modular ones. Right now my helmet of choice is the Nolan N102, the reviews have been excellent, the price is good, and it comes in blazing yellow which I like. The problem is that nowhere around me carries Nolan so I can't try one on. Any idea how these fit in relation to HJC or ICON? Right now I wear a size large in both of the mentioned helmets but I just don't know. I really hate to order one in and not have it fit right.

I have a Nolan N102 and a HJC both in large. The HJC is actually my sons helmet.

The HJC fits me snug. Almost too snug. But its fairly new and once broken in would probably fit better.

The Nolan in Large is looser than the HJC. But feels very good to me. It seams to me that because of the modular part of the helmet that the sides flex a little probably lending to the looser fit. When you open the helmet you can flex the sides quite a bit. But once locked closed its much better.

Be aware that the Nolan is Noisy. So is the HJC. The HJC is slightly quieter than my Nolan but not much.

I also have a answer MX helmet and MSR MX helmet. Both in large. They all fit about the same as the Nolan.

Oh and I have an AGV street helmet in Large that fits about the same as the Nolan. Maybe a little tighter.

So Id say go with the large.

I have a 102.. I like it alot. It works well with the V-Strom even in the up position and low speed urban riding. But I find that the weight of it makes it most useful for city/short rides (2-4 hours). For long multi-day trips I opt for a lighter full face that is less tiring on the highway..

The 102 fits closer to your chin. I would most definately try on before you buy.

I had an HJC CL-14, size large. It fit good, but I had a hot spot on my forehead and right ear. I replaced it with an N102, also size large. It fits good and is comfortable. I've had it for about 3 years now and am starting to look at replacements. My head size is 22 3/4 in, or about 7 3/8 hat size. The large seems to fit true to size, if not a tad loose (or mine may just be broken in good :)

Beautiful, thanks for the replies. I finally found a dealer in a doable distance who has a limited stock of them. I'm planning on cruising up there this weekend to check them out. It's about 100 miles each way but I'll hit Mt. Lemmon while I'm in Tucson so it won't be a waste of a trip.
