I just finished my first ever Farkling Session on my new Vee (DL1K5). Actually my first real session ever.

I ordered a Givi E52 Top Case and Adventure Motostuff Rack. The rack went on easily but I had to shim up the rear post with a couple of washers before the top case would latch.

I also ordered a Power Commander yesterday from Jamie at FuelMoto. He got it here overnight with the correct map already programmed. Jamie, YOU ROCK!!!!!

Since I am about as mechanically inclined as a Sea Otter (which means I can use hard things to smash open softer ones. . .). I was delightfully surprised when the bike started and ran perfectly after the PCIII install. ;)

Tomorrow I take my first long ride. Just going to go north on PCH until I feel like turning around.

Tom, I think you'll really like that top case - it was practically a mandatory component for my DL650.

Funny, isn't it, how one must take a test ride after a farkle installation - even if it's really not necessary. Your PCIII certainly demands it - but I found myself test riding after putting reflective tape on!

Hope your day on the PCH has many stretches without slow tourists in front of you!

Yesterday was a great ride!!! I ended up basically riding up to Malibu for lunch. Did 150 miles stopping once on the way up and then riding straight through on the way back. This is the longest ride I have done so far.

The scenery was beautiful once I dropped down out of Santa Monica back onto PCH. I think maybe next time I'll just bypass the whole Long Beach to S.M. stretch of PCH (Wilmington has it's own very special odor). Although Redondo, Hermosa and Manhattan Beach are all nice areas.

I ended up pulling in at a Hows SuperMarket just north of Pepperdine University. I noticed some umbrellas to the right of the building and it turns out that they have an outdoor BBQ with Chicken Carne Asada and Tri Tip. :-D

The bike ran very well. I did experience a little of the stumbling a few times but not nearly as bad as before the PCIII. I also forgot that I have a Madstad bracket here to install. There were a few times I wished I had remembered. . .

All in all the first good ride was a success. Monday I am going to start shopping for a Sargent seat. My only bitch about the ride was my butt complaining after about 65 miles.

Now to go install the Madstad and maybe my Givi crash bars and then take a test ride.
