Its prolly a little ways off for me yet but I know new bikes seem to be sold with short lived tires. I expect the Battlewings to be gone by 4 to 5 tho kms. In the past, short lived tires has had me looking for something that would last. For my needs on this bike I may go with Heidies again as they gave me an incredible 22000 kms. (ridden to the threads) from the pair I had on my F8.
Opinions?

If you can handle the limitations of the heidies probably go with them.

I have a 650 and I'm eating the fronts in less than half that :), but if you want something dirt capable, the best I've found.

I had bridgestone bw previously on my dl650 k6, and they lasted 18k kms, then I started using metzeler next, and they lasted me 23k kms then I replaced them with other next tyres, and then I sold the bike..
Now with my new Vee2, I think I will replace bw by metzeler next or by the new Michelin pilot road 4 trail, it depends on price..
I still have few kilometers on my bike to say how much bw will last on it!

My usage is pattern is 60% straight roads (I use my bike to go to work), 35% curvy roads, and less than 5% white roads..
I usually replace tyres very flat on the center and good on sides, so bi-material tyres are better for me.

Had the PR Trails on my Guzzi and got well over 10000 on mostly highway use. The Guz handled them well on any forestry roads I tried too. Is it the Mitas or Mifos that are made in the same factory as the Heidies? They certainly look identical. Wonder about the comparative pricing and, if they are cheaper, why?
perhaps it's the section where they work the child labor.:green_lol:

Mitas is Czech.

I think Mefo is out of the Heidenau factory in Germany.

Michelin has a Trail version of the new Pilot 4. Different carcass from the other P4s. Looks like an exceptionally good rain tire. Very good price here in Canada - $403 delivered for the pair at a large online retailer.

I had great performance out of Heidi's but due to road surfaces, riding style and my weight of 330# I wear the rears out in 3000 miles. Which seems to be about it for any rear for me
