New to the community, not to the bike…

Hi y’all, four years back now, I picked up a well-loved ‘04 Wee with 50k on the clock as my first road bike, and I have loved it since day one. Suzuki hit a banger on its first year with the Strom and has never looked back. With its fantastic reliability and supportive aftermarket and community, I have learned both to wrench and ride. For a young rider the Strom has been a perfect fit. Commuter, tourer, ADV; the Wee can and has done it all, and I love it for that.

When I got the bike, extras included just a Givi touring windscreen, Givi crash bars, a center stand, and a cheap tail box from eBay. With time this list has grown. Now it’s something like this:

Shinko 804/805
Ravetech engine guard
Heated grips
Ram mount
Cortech soft bags
Footpegs
Turning signal/DRL conversion

It's a super simple setup that gets the job done on a budget. I have done one sizable 2 week trip from New York, to Maine, to North Carolina and back, along with a couple smaller trips around PA and northern New York. I'm currently prepping to take on the PADRX in June, which I'm super stoked for!

After a couple summers worth of commuting and a few good trips, the odo is around 75k. Coming up next year, it will running on 20 years old, but she doesn't show her age a bit!

As for the StromTrooper community, I am just joining but have been a lurker since I got the bike for things such as valve clearance checks, a front fork rebuild, preferred phone mount, and much more. I'm glad I am now jumping into ST, now that I have some experience with this splendid motorcycle we all know and love.

P.S. I have found the Ravetech with the Givi crash bars to be a killer combo. What are other common setups for the offroad undercarriage protection department?

Welcome to the club. First Gen is the best Gen I like to say.

You might be at 20 years by the end of the year depending on when it was built. My "2007" Wee has a build date on the VIN plate of 10/06 and still rolling with 95K miles (not by me). Mine is showing its age and burning oil so I am gearing up to do a top-end refresh this Fall or Winter.
Welcome to the forum.
Great place to find information on about everything.
I'm new the DL650 and the forum but I have been riding for quite some time. I find the forums here are great.
Be safe and ride safe.
