Recently bought an '05 DL1000 with 25k miles on it. The person I bought it from didn't know too much about it. He bought it off a neighbor that was moving thinking he'd use it, but he had several other bikes and was more of a Harley guy. The bike only had about 200 more miles on the odometer than when he titled it several years ago. He said he just did regular maintenance and replaced the fuel pump. Bike runs and rides great, no issues that I've found yet. I plan to do the usual oil change, air filter and valve check. I've been lurking on the site for a bit now and have compiled a list of other things to check over and or monitor, but so far everything seems good. Even passed MD inspection with no problem. I'm not familiar with VStroms or Japanese bikes in general. I had some honda shadows like 20 years back, but then I got into dual sports and mostly rode Husqvarnas. Having a 98 Te610 and an 06TE510, both high strung and high maintenance. Buying this on a whim had me a bit nervous with 25k on the odor but it seems like these engines are pretty reliable.
The bike came with a few farkles already like side boxes, adjustable windshield, hand guards, corbin seat, riser extensions/ set backs, power commander, USB outlets, old tomtom rider2, crash bars, skid plate, rad and cooler guards, center stand and some other stuff I probably haven't noticed or forgot about. So it seemed like a fair price to me at $2800.
It also came with new stainless brake lines in a box and a spare used clutch basket. I've read about clutch chudder on these bikes, but haven't felt any on this one. Not sure what the spare basket was for, unless it's the old worn one but I'm not sure what to look for.
Anyway I've been searching and reading the forum for tons of info tips and just wanted to introduce myself and say thanks.
