Hi guys:
I just got my new BATTLAX ADVENTURE A41 installed on the mighty 650.
The previous ones were the original Bridgestone Trail Wing , they last for 22.000km
The first impresion I got , much more grip , and that the bike did not want to lean, it wanted to be straight. Then I read an article about the different shapes tyres can have and how they affect you, and it makes sense to have a flatter shaped tyre for long touring/commuting rides ( most of the time an adventure bike moves on roads) , compared to a more pointier shape used by off road or track days, where turning fast is the call.
Anyways , that is my impression on my first 50 km with new tyres.

That is disappointing, as it's a 90/10 tire so should be easy to tip into a turn. Hope it improves. What pressures are you running? Perhaps higher pressures will help the tires fall into turns.

Thanks for the initial review...Will be following to see if your impression changes with more miles. These tires are on my list as the next skins for my 09 650.
I have had 2 sets of BattleWings and think they are a great tire on the Wee. Lots of asphalt and concrete roads traveled as well as a good deal of Tidewater, Virginia clay soil. Slicker than greased owl shit is what they say locally!
The BattleWings have been great but I would like to see a bit more mileage between retread times. Last 2 sets have been pretty worn out by 9-10k miles of riding. Best wet-weather tire I've ridden to date but the idea of dual compound tire seems like it may provide longer tread life.
The reviewer below loved these treads on BMW 1200 and on a KTM Super Duke....know these are a bit different bikes than the 650 but thought it was a worthwhile read.

K9, I second your thoughts on the Battle Wings.
I just replaced the original Battle Wings on my '14 DL1K with the exact same tires at 7K miles. I still had approx 50% left on the front, the rear about 25% left. I use my 'strom for sport-touring, occasional multi-state road trips, no dirt.
Thing to know is that there are different Battle Wings for different bikes in the same sizes. The 1000 specifies model "J" front and rear, and I made sure that's is exactly what I got. Infact, the year/model bike was the question put to me as I was ordering just for that reason.
I'm more than satisfied with the steering, handling, ride, and tread wear with these Battle Wings.

I run 705 Shinko's but got an 805 as replacement for a 2K mile ride. I was surprised at the feel as I rode a break in jaunt up the mountains. The 805 was much easier to turn in and felt more planted than the 705.
Tires have such varied design and rubber construction that a lot of money can be spent before finding a tire that you like. Everyone's perception of how a tire feels varies too.

UPDATE
I now think that the "the bike did not want to lean, it wanted to be straight" was my break in period. The mechanic told me afterwards that he rubbed alcohol on the tyres to get rid of the slippery film that come from the factory. So it could have be that.

After the 3rd day of riding they feel normal (the bike just do as I want) and with more grip compared to the Trail Wing.
So far , great .

I had a set of Battlax tires on my DL650 and really liked them. Priced right, gripped well and decent tire life. Last May getting ready for a trip I put on a set of Shinko 705's. Only problem was I ordered a 120/80-19 front. I proceeded to install them on the night before the trip started so I had fresh rubber from the word go. Buddy shows up next morning we head down the driveway and start to make the left hand turn into the development. I stopped got off the bike and buddy asked what's wrong? I thought the front tire was extremely low on air. Rode back to the house checked the pressure and it was spot on. Look at the tire and realized what I did, I installed a 120/80/19. Too late at this point to change back as we were meeting up with others.

The bike felt extremely weird for a while. It didn't want to turn and wanted to stay upright in turns but onward we pushed. Finally got into some really great mountain twisties and just rode. All the ills went away as the riding intensity and fun level increased. In short order maybe a 1/8th inch of chicken strip was left and I got used to the new tires. If I'd have kept the bike the next tires I'd have gone back to the 110/80-19 to speed up the turn in. But sold the bike when I got home.
