Howdy y'all,

so I bought these for my '15 DL650 and almost gave up on them after 2+ hours trying to get them installed. The issue was they were just too bulky to navigate to get the default locking pin/clip in place. I was just about to return them and then found a review on another website that sells the same light rebranded where the user stated the mounting plate separates from the bulb and heatsink for easy install. Well, once I figured this out I walked out to the garage and rotated the bulb while holding the mounting plate and indeed came right off.

Taking the small mounting plate on its' own, it was a simple and quick install. With the plate installed and locked into place I simply routed the light through the plastic cover, lined up the grooves on the mounting plate with the bulb, inserted and rotated. So easy. Pushed the plastic cover on and plugged in the light. Took less than 5 minutes with new knowledge.

Make sure the "light blockers" (or whatever they are called) are on the bottom to match the OEM. With the rotating-lock-in-place mechanism, if you insert the bulb 180 degrees off they will be on the top which will be the opposite effect of blinding oncoming drivers.

Thought I would throw this in here in case someone is looking for LED bulbs that have solid heatsinks, high output, and easy to install.

FYI, the main purpose of installing LED lights was to free up wattage for other things like heated gear. With all my heated gear at 75% with my heated grips at 100%, and aux lighting on, I'm below 12.8v and have therefore exhausted the power available.

With these lights I free up 60-80 watts for other gear/toys.

One thing I noticed is that the heatsinks get a lot warmer than I expected. After 15 minutes of riding they are relatively warm/hot to the touch. These are pretty bright bulbs from what I can tell testing them in the garage. I suspect the biggest difference will be the light colour, which will take some getting used to.

Planning tonight. I'll report back with the results.
Drive completed. These are great lights. Keep in mind I had already upgraded the OEM H4's to Phillips Extreme Vision bulbs. They were also excellent. I don't feel like I have lost anything on low beam. High beam is an improvement. On the darkest of roads the high beams are fantastic. Flip on my aux lights with high beam on, and it's just loads of light :grin2:

Got to test the load on the power system, and this free'd up power beyond what I pull. The idling volts are 14.3-14.5 volts, and running with all gear on, including heated grips, aux lights on, and 2.4amp USB charging my phone, and the volts don't drop below 14.3.

Exactly what I was hoping for.

Thanks for sharing! Looks like I just fixed myself on the next mod to perform on the bike...
