Hello to all Sons of Practicality!

Poconos, PA has been voted by the group as the location for the 7th NEVA (North East [mostly] Vstrom Adventure) event.
The organizers this year are my self, Alon and NJBill.

NEVA 2017 is going to be great. We are going to have the following features:
1. Three (!) day event. Starting at Thursday evening and ending on Sunday. This will give us plenty of time to explore the beautiful area and have some more adventures (see below)
2. Shirts
3. Decals (AKA Dickels :grin2:)
4. Meals
5. On Friday we plan a fun water activity on the Delware river!

I just came back from a weekend at the designated camp site, Keen Lake Campground, PA.
It is absolutely stunning. They have a private lake and can accommodate our group. There are tent sites as well as cabins.

Dates: Thu 8/3/2017 - Sun 8/6/2017

The registration starts on January 2nd, 2017, but I talked to the managers and they are willing to open up the registration for us as a whole group, tents only, right now.
We do have to put a deposit per each tent site.
They are not interested in managing right now a single registration for each rider for that large tent area that can fit us.
If we wait to January 2nd then we are not guaranteed that the site will be available.
Furthermore, those that want to order cabins will have to do so at standard registration - that is starting January 2nd.
This is a very sought after campground so the high demand means we need to act fast. It is well worth it.

Once we get the full attendance list, in a matter of 3-4 weeks, then I will collect a deposit from each of you and then make the order and pay them once big deposit. PayPal instructions will follow, but we have time for that.

Next steps:
To start that we have opened a Google Excel spreadsheet with all attendees.
Please email me your details:
1. Name
2. Call Sign
3. Email

to: [email protected] with the title NEVA 2017

And I will provide you access to that file and to future resources - such as GPX files, photos, videos etc.
I don't want those private files to be exposed to the entire internet.

The Google Doc has the following information for you to fill:
Tent site?
Meals?
Decal (AKA Dickel)?
Shirt?
Shirt Type (T-Shirt, Hoodie)
Shirt Size
Shirt Color
Friday Delaware River water activities?

Let the party start!
Yuval

What is the cost? Can we do more than 1 tent per site?
You can see their prices over here - I think no hookup is the right one for the large group site. Everything is very close to the lake and to the central office/showers/shop.

Yes, sites can be shared. This is the one benefit of that special group area - it allows many people to share sites closely and be in one concentrated area.

If anyone wants to explore the Poconos in the next couple months let me know. I live about 2 hours away in central NJ and would love to explore with whoever is creating the routes.
Hi John,
I'd personally love to do that, but please let's stay on topic - this thread is about the NEVA '17.

Thanks
Yuval

Uhh...isn't NEVA 17 in the Poconos?
It is, but you asked 'If anyone wants to explore the Poconos in the next couple months let me know'.
This basically can quickly turn this thread to another thread - 'Poconos exploration in the next two months' with dozens of off-topics responses. Trust me, it deteriorates quickly. If you open up another thread I'd love to sign up and discuss it.

I apologize if I came out too strong, don't take any offense. Just had too many threads diverting and de-focusing, mainly due to good intentions.

Apology accepted. I'm just sick of hearing you can't say this or you can't say that in a public forum. I never once had an issue with talking about anything relevant to an issue in any other forum. I think this is taken way too far here and it pisses a lot of people off. No one says these things with ill intentions and most are trying to be helpful. When I google questions for my DRZ400 I still get results on Thumper Talk even though they're not strictly enforcing this there. I can understand keeping on topic but the way this forum takes it to the extreme is a little ridiculous IMO.

Yes, they are of course.
The camp is not that large - not much distance. I walked it end to end in 3-4 minutes.
The problem is that registration for those single sites and cabins opens on January. You can surely call them on Jan 2nd and register on your own.
I was trying to book the big camping site in order to ensure that most of us if not all can camp together.
If they run out of individual camp sites we can risk splitting the group into other camps - I think this is undesirable.
