What luck. Last night I was handed a set of Givi racks for my 650. Truly a right place at the right time moment in life. However, there are no mounting instructions with the racks and I can't be sure all the hardware is with the racks. They were also mounted to a bike that low sided and the right rack is pushed in/out a little.

Can anyone help me with a link to some installation instructions and a parts list? I have tried the search function and had only minor success. I have a basic idea of how they fit but I'm not exactly sure about the hardware. Specifically, are any of the original bolts used to mount the racks under the top rack?

I also need to know the distance the right rack sits from the muffler shield. The rack is bent only a little but I'd like some idea before I attempt to straighten it.

I really appreciate the help.

You can re-use the original bolts for the top rack provided they're long enough. If I recall, Givi provides a slightly longer replacement.

As long as you can bend the rack to look straight, that should be fine. The mounting surface should be parallel with the line of the bike so the bags mount straight.

The metal is pretty easy to bend, but there's a lot of compound angles to consider.

The right side is pretty tight to the muffler shield, maybe 1/4 inch at the closest point from the side of it.

Cheers,

Thanks guys. I now know what hardware I need to get and a rough idea how it should fit.

Next, I need to figure out what parts are bent and need straightening or tweaked so this thing fit correctly. My first impression is that the left side is true and as long as it is not connected to the cross piece it hangs near perfectly. Add the cross piece and it cannot fit as it should under the tail light. The right side(muffler side) strikes the muffler cover before it can alight with the top mounting holes. Add the cross bar and things get worse. Here are some pics. For reference the right side is always the muffler side.

The rack was on a 650 that low sided on the right side.

Any suggestions where I should start bending/straightening to get it to fit are greatly appreciated.

I think I'd start with the crossmember and get that straight first.

You might try mounting the left side rack and fiddling with the crossmember until both ends of it hang symmetrically. Then, at least, you have a starting point for the right-side rack. Consider, though that the left side might have been bent a little too when it was shoved out from the bike. Also, whatever you do with the crossmember affects how your rear fender aligns.

Whatever you do, do it in small increments and check and check again so as to avoid metal fatigue.
