Article by Justin Hughes on Adventure Rider forum, dated 01/31/23, reviewed a PEERCE 5” CarPlay device, made in China by Iorigin Radio Factory … I got one. Purpose of the PEERCE is to display Apple (or Android) CarPlay screen on a rugged monitor for use on a motorcycle. It’s touch sensitive, performs exactly like the display in my car. Pairing instructions for PEERCE to phone starts with a BT connection, which automatically initiates a Wi-Fi signal from the PEERCE (which phones picks up) for data transfer. Next, just pair your helmet with the PEERCE. Simple.

Have successfully used my Cardo Freecom 2X with a 3 year old iPhone SE, can hook the phone and PEERCE together, but cannot integrate all three devices. Biggest problem when using a map app, the helmet does not pick up the turn instructions. PEERCE has a tiny speaker, but can’t hear it with helmet on when riding. Another example of malfunction is when phone rings with an incoming call I can answer/hear/talk only if I use the Cardo buttons for that function. If I try to answer phone thru PEERCE, there is no sound to helmet.

Successful pairing might involve second BT channel referenced in the Cardo manual for hooking in a second phone or GPS device, but no success yet. No help on manufacturer’s website, Cardo support sez they’re hoping to hook up to this device in the future. Moderator on Adventure Rider forum apparently thought my question was too far in the weeds, wouldn’t put it up. The original article referenced above had several instances of people integrating their systems (some with iPhone and Cardo) but without specifics, other than “pair phone to PEERCE, then Cardo to PEERCE”.

Hoping others here saw the Adventure Rider article, bought a PEERCE, made it work. Can someone please help with specific instructions on how to get my trio in harmony?

I can't help you solve your immediate problem. But I have an idea why this isn't working very well.

If you do a google search for "Why is Bluetooth still so unreliable?" you will see articles pop up that agree with the premise. Yes, Bluetooth still sucks. And you will see big articles in big publications from 2015, 2016, 2017, right up to the present day. For various reasons, legitimate and otherwise, the bluetooth handshake is very sophisticated/complex. And if any little packet of information get corrupted along the way, it crashes. There are also a lot of other devices that use the same or similar frequencies, and many of those uses are unregulated. With one connection and no distractions from other devices, Bluetooth works ok.

In real life, it is rarely that simple.

@Solarguy thanks for looking. The PEERCE seems to act as a little router, producing a Wi-Fi signal for data transfer between itself and phone. Although BT connection initiates the Wi-Fi signal, it shows as “BT not connected” once the Wi-Fi fires up, was hoping this would lessen BT problems. BT signal corruption may not be the problem, I have no signal. Phone shows a set of earphones connected, one guess is that it sees the PEERCE internal speaker as primary and can’t recognize the helmet speakers .. I’m grasping at anything.

Meanwhile, I ordered a phone mount with vibration isolation, will hang the phone out in the breeze and hear everything on my Cardo helmet, leave the PEERCE at home until the lightbulb comes on.

I don't know about your systems.

My phone links to my Zumo, my Zumo links to my helmet.

I get instructions from the Zumo and phone calls when required, I answer or decline on the Zumo screen.

The Zumo will give instructions to my headset, many other units have Bluetooth but will not share the instructions via a headset, could that be your problem ?

@Rolex Hindsight sez I would’ve been better off with a Zuma, but I’m happy with mapping capabilities of iPhone (no dirt riding), love CarPlay in my truck, so was seduced by the claims of the PEERCE device. Maybe somebody will figure it out and see this post .. optimism!

I had some doubts about how well the Zumo would handle the bluetooth juggling act, but it's been a very seamless process linking everything together. Frankly, I was amazed.

My Zumo XT works as well with my Cardo Packtalk Bold and my Android phone. The phone is paired with the XT and both the phone and the XT are paired with phone as as phone 1 and XT as phone II and that allows the XT to manage calls. (ie contacts, keypad, etc.)

Only issue I have is as different updates come to the Android phone sometimes I get the odd momentary drop-out in the connection with the Cardo.

Thanks to all for advice, when three riders tell me the Zumo XT works well with their phones and helmets, gotta believe it’s so. I’ll ride with my old iPhone in a quad lock, with dampner, until the phone fails, Zumo XT goes on sale, OR I can find solution to connecting the PEERCE.

I think XT is on sale now as I hear price offering of $399.
