howdy all, I'm looking a a 2003 Vee with 38,xxx miles on her for $3500 Firm. Some details:

Seller is selling because he just bought a R1150RT.
recent maintenance includes, fork oil changed, ECU remapped and throttle bodies synced at 24k, new Ignition switch at 25k, new chain at 26k, dunlop road smart tires at 30k, regular oil changed every 3k.

Included with the sale is: Service manual, Givi E45 top case, Kaoko throttle lock, "improved mirrors", as well as stock mirrors, K&N air filter, suzuki center stand, two windshields (16" and 22")

From the photos the bike looks great, its got some wear and tear, but nothing that would be a deal breaker. I called the guy and we spoke for about 20 minutes, he as telling me about these 1000 mi rides he would take with it. He has owned it since 2007, and bought it with 18,300 miles. He has kept an incredible logbook of all the maintenance, from when and who did the service, to part numbers. Seems like he bought it from an Audi dealership.

He had the Throttle bodies synced and ECU remapped at 24k because of a hesitation at 3500 rpm. He had to bring it in twice because they did not get it right the first time, he said now it runs much better and has better mid-range power. The Ignition switch was replaced at 25k because of a "FI hard fault that would not allow the bike to start" He said he had the same problem for 200 miles and finally figured out it was a relay issue. After replacing the relay, he has not had a problem since.

I asked him if he ever dropped the bike, and he said once, and it slide causing damage to the left side. Since the pictures don't show any damage I asked what was replaced. He said the Front fender, left front strut, left tank plastics, handle bar ends, clutch lever and shield, foot peg, gear shift lever, mirror and muffler cover. He said he was able to claim it on the insurance and just had everything done. None of this was noted in his logbook. I asked him why, and he said it was from embarrassment, he is sorry for not putting it in, and the bike rides, runs and looks fine. From the pictures, you can never tell that it was downed. (out of respect for the owner, I will not post any pictures). My fear is buying a bike that has already been downed. I know the Vee's are tough, but what should I be looking for?

So what do you all think? Good deal or keep looking? Im having a friend that knows barely anything about motorcycles go look at it this weekend, since he will be the sellers area (500 mi from where i live). If he says it looks fine and seems like there is no false advertising, I will go check it out the following weekend.

How many

How many miles has the guy put on it since it's been down? If plenty many, then likely no lasting problems. If very few, then maybe there's a problem (like tweeked frame or forks) that would steer you away. Sounds like the guy took good care of it. Be aware that '03 model has fewer choices for windshields than later ('04 on) models. Around here, used Vee's are few and far between, so kinda gotta pay what they ask to get one.

From what I saw in his logs, the fork oil was changed at 19k mi. This was 700 miles after he bought the bike and one of the tasks that was done after his lay down. So all the miles on the bike have been done after the fall.

FYI: my girlfriend went to go look at the bike since she was down there and said it looks just like the ad, and is in very good condition. I am going to take a ride down this weekend to purchase it!
