Fuses are cheap but I am getting tired of changing them. They are good for up to one month. I have the GPS wired directly to my battery.

I am also going to be installing a Radar Detector. Is it okay to direct wire it to the battery also? I am electronically challenged. :(

Might I ask if you have any type of 12 volt adapter plugged inline? I believe that 12v adapter you put in the cig lighter/data adapter hole provides more than a connection to the electronics. I believe it's a simple regulator also so you are always supplied 12v and not more. When you rev up you could possibly achieve up to 17v depending on how your system is charging the battery. That is a possibility on why you are blowing fuses.

Maybe, if you don't have one, you could put one inline?

I would start by checking the wire to make sure it hasn't been sliced or something. I would completely pull the wire out and check it over very carefully.

Could also be your mount has a short in it.
