Have a 2003 Vee.

Followed wiring as shown on the "other site." Doesn't do anything. Checked all connections, vacuum, read and re-read just about all posts I could find.

I have seen about 3-4 different DIP Switch settings out there. I have blue wire to brown/black (left fairing pocket) and gray to pink/white (left fairing pocket). The "black" outside of the gray I've left alone. Stock tail-lights.

I've seen about 3 DIP Switch settings. I'm not sure which one to use. I currently have it set to On-On-On-On-Off-Off-Off. Is that correct?

Trying to get this fixed for a week-long trip on Monday. I'm gettin' frustrated, but will stick with this until it works.

Any suggestions to troubleshoot??

Jumper -- off
SW 1,2,3,4, -- on
SW 5,6,7 -- off

Do you have the LED light in the actuator lit? How about the power light on the switch control module?

You're using the gray wire from the paired gray/black wires from the actuator, right, not the gray wire from the switch control module?

Can the actuator move at all? Or the attachment at the end of the control cable housing? Both ends must be held stationary. If you can get hold of MityVac or other vacuum pump, you can bench test the vacuum actuator to see that it moves the throttle linkage OK. Are you connected to the correct ports on the vacuum accumulator?

  • DIP switches correct
  • Haven't checked the LED in the actuator. Just turn on ignition to see if I get power light?
  • Power light on switch control module - Yes
  • Gray wire from the paired gray/black - Yes
  • Actuator cannot move
  • Attachment at end of control cable cannot move
  • Vacuum source --> MAN fitting on canister
  • Actuator --> AMP fitting on canister
  • Maybe shouldn't have, but I removed noise suppressor in blue line in one trouble shooting attempt
  • Using vacuum lines I use for TBS; into a T-fitting, then up to cannister
  • Have Mitivac. Just suck on the actuator vacuum fitting?

Thank you.

The noise suppressor ought'a be there; I don't know what happens if it's off.

On second thought, maybe the Mityvac won't test it...there would have to be a way to fool the control unit so that it opens the vacuum valve and lets the vacuum pull against the diaphragm to pull the throttle cable, and I haven't seen a circuit diagram.

Here is the original installation manual:

Check page 11 for troubleshooting.

I've looked at that manual, along with the troubleshooting page. One difference I notice with mine is that I get about 7-8v -- instead of @12v -- coming through the red wire after I've tapped it into the orange/red in the left fairing pocket.

Get an LED light in the actuator when I have bike on and when I press set or accel on the control module.

I'm getting increasingly baffled. Determined to figure this out, but I'm running out of ideas. I'm assuming all the parts are fine, that it's a mistake I'm making somewhere.
