That was my thought, heavy and bulky. I'm all for being prepared but.....there are limits. I ride for fun and that just doesn't look like that much fun.
I bought a Champion winch for my Suzuki King Quad 300 ATV that is rated for 3000 pounds. On sale I paid $117 Canadian ...or about 30 Bucks. Amazed how well it has worked and the quality of the wiring relay and switch. I can't see ever carrying it on a bike, but having one in a nearby truck would be useful.
I'm not knocking the product. However, I wonder what size battery would be required to power those. To me, the stock V-Strom battery is too weak to be used for that purpose plus still have enough amps to start the bike after that ordeal.
By the video you have the bike running, powering the winch, while at the same time slipping the clutch in 1st gear. sounds like a great way to burn out a clutch to me.
I've spent my time on wet clay, on a 240lb dirt bike with nobbly's and the only way to maintain directional control was at speed so that the mud could fling out of the knobs. Even then the bike is still moving around beneath you.
On a 500lb adventure bike I would have turned around and ridden off. If you think that getting up a wet clay hill is difficult just imagine the joy of riding back down.
