I just took my first ride this past weekend with some bike to bike FRS/GMRS 2-way radios and an IMC headset. This option was far cheaper than a starcom1/autocom setup (that was a whole other story) and seems to work well so far. I am not sure if I should post it here, of just provide the link to my blog - http://twistedroutes.blogspot.com

One farkle leads, inevitably, to another - so I'll be needing to power some accessories from the bike. I've been reading the posts on here and expect to be ordering a few things from EastBeaver soon. Is the general concensus to tap the power of the rear break into a fusebox... a little confused there because boxes like the PC-8 provide switched and unswitched, but if they are getting their power from a switched connection, then how can some of them be unswitched, unless there is some other power source too. Then do I still have a need for relays? You can see in the blog post the things I am expecing to power (GPS, Phone, FRS Radio).

Does anyone have a documented complete setup ?

No, the fuse block does not get primary power from the rear brake light (actually it's the tail light and not the brake light). The fuse block RELAY gets a CONTROL signal from the tail light. Primary power for the fuse block comes straight from the battery.

The fuse blocks that have both switched and unswitched busses can use the same primary power feed. For the unswitched side just take B+ from the battery straight to the bus strip of the fuse block. For the SWITCHED side B+ goes into one of the contact sides of a relay and the bus strip of the fuse block goes to the other contact side of the relay. When the relay closes the contacts make a connection in the relay and current flows to the fuse block. The control side of the relay is connected to a switched circuit, usually the tail light or headlight, and the other side of the control is connected to ground.

The Eastern Beaver brake light switch tap connects to the power side of the switch. It, like the tail light tap, goes hot when the ignition is turned on. The PC8 has two connectors for hot, one switched(PWR) and one unswitched(BAT) as well as ground(GND). If you are unsure, just get the complete kit, PC8, wiring harness and rear brake connector relay switching adapter. The purple wire in its picture feeds the blue switching lead connector in the relay harness. With those parts, there is no cutting into the stock harness. DIYers familiar with electrical work just need the last diagram.

GreyWolf...that last post was excellent. I never really understood exactly how to route everything, but the last diagram made everything a lot more clear.

I must have gotten my understanding of electrical wiring from my dad. One of my greatest memories of him was when he was installing a cieling fan in our kitchen. I was coming up the stairs from the basement and heard a very loud "ZAP-POP!", accompanied by his silhouette flashed against the wall by a bright burst of light. After he regained consciousness he gave me a lesson in "what not to do".

I've posted my progress so far on my blog.

I culdn't access the rear brake light connector under the cooland (08 Wee with ABS) and even if I could I didn't have a connector to use there as I am going on a ride this weekend for which I'd really like power,,,and odering from Eastern beaver would just take too long.so I cut into the harnessthe diagrams above were a tremendous help (those and the suzuki electrics wiring diagram)!!
