I put a Metzeler Tourance Next rear tyre on my DL1000 2006 7 months ago and after 13,081 klm (8,175 miles) the tyre has worn a very flat bottom with the sides still intact.
I put this tyre on as it was promoted as top mileage and suitable for cruising. I dont do any off road riding.
The last tyre I had was a Michellin Anakee 3 and it had done 21,538klm (13,461 miles) when I took it off.
Has anyone else experienced this issue.
Having a problem up loading a pic ..

I can't speak to the mileage compared to the Anakee.

Lots depends on the kind of roads you ride on, the tire pressure and how hard you ride. I have had 10 Tourance Next rear tires tires on my 2015 DL1000 and here is the km they were replaced at:

15680
14370
13584
16786
15760
9370 **
16116
14061
14896
15001
15189

** (The 9,370 was replaced early because of multiple punctures in a bad spot.)

I got much better mileage on my 2012 DL650 using the same tires:

21850
19900
22030
19990

So your mileage doesn't seem ridiculous.

Tom, what PSI are you running in the back and front. I cant find any info on the Metzeler site.

Cold Temps 42ish rear. 36 to 38 front. (With TPMS you learn not to chase it too much.) I've typically weighed 240 to 260 lbs but am under 240 now. I'm not terribly light on the throttle.

I run also 38/42 on my Tourances (regular ands Next). Your lower pressure will likely have hastened the squaring off some.

I have a Metzler Torrance Next on my R1200GS and its at about 1/2 way worn at around 4,000 miles. Since most other rear tires I've tried are shot around 5,000 I'll definitely look at the Meltzer's again in a few months when its time to replace.

I have several buddies that are getting exceptionally good wear out of Michelin PP4's so I might give them a try.
