Used clothes dryer sheets. Stick a couple in your helmet when not in use.
See, that's the kind of stuff I'm looking for. I fill the whole thing with water, and use shampoo. It works, but then it takes a couple days to dry, and the goofy screws rust.
Thanks

Many helmets have removable and washable liners. Try to peel a corner of a cheek pad back and see if there are snaps.

i used to run my old helmet through the tub with shampoo, the liner was not removable. I would prop it up neck hole towards a box fan with the shield open and it would dry out in about a day or so.... worked then but now i have a removable liner, and just pop it out. I have also done the dryer sheets...

Two helmets.

If you ride every day, rotate between the helmets so they have a chance to air out.

I have a feeling I'm going to need this information after riding across N York on the thruway in 95* heat and about a 100% humidity on Monday, then only slightly better conditions in Vermont yesterday. The sweat was dripping from under my helmet into my eyes even when moving 80 mph.

It hasn't begun to stink like old gym shoes yet though....maybe that's a guy thing?

I'm on a week long trip so rotating helmets is not an option.
Thank goodnes it's cooler and the humidity is gone today in N Hampshire.

I have a new Shoei RF1100 and the air flow is superior not to mention the comfort and how light it feels. My liner is removable but just haven't had a problem yet with odor...

The place to post this, but with the heat and humidity, how do you keep your helmet liner from smelling like gym shoes?
I shower and shampoo my head every day.

Head smell?

I don't have head "body odor" so never need to wash my helmet. :green_lol:

Skull Cap ??

I use a medium thick cotton skull cap which will absorb most of the perspiration and dirt with the add benefits that donning and removing the helmet is MUCH easier and, if you use ear plugs, the skull cap will permit the helmet to smoothly glide over the plugs without dislodging them.

Then, wash the skull cap when necessary.

Of course, the downside is that if someone sees you wearing your skull cap before donning your helmet, they will point at you and call you names.
