Hi all. I'm new to the forum and have been lurking and learning for a while. I've finally decided that this season will be the one to switch rides from my VS800 Intruder I've enjoyed immensely for the last 5 years, to something more suited to my current riding interests...a Wee. I've been thinking about this for a couple of years now, and it's time. There's more touring than cruising in my future. I've checked the wee out at the dealerships, and it fits me well even though I'm on the shorter side of the ledger at 5'8". I haven't had the opportunity for a test ride.
I'm just waiting for the right bike to come available on the used market locally, here in Ottawa, Ontario. (I've decided to buy a previously enjoyed ride, rather than new). WeeStroms seem to appear infrequently in the used market here, and I'm still kicking myself for missing a 2008 stealth black, fully kitted ABS model 2 weeks ago.
There is a completely stock 2004 on the local market I might check out. It's extremely low mileage and by the photos looks new and "garage kept" (11k kms on it, appx 7k miles).
I know that was the first model year, and it's a little older than I intended to buy. I'm aware of the basic changes to the bike since new (e.g., ABS, and the addition of a 2nd pair of sparkplugs in 07). I wasn't necessarily looking specifically for an ABS model, so I'd like to hear comments on the 04's. Are there any reasons to avoid it (and also 05-06) in favor of an 07 or newer. Are there any other changes or improvements I'd need to have in mind?
Appreciative of any advice the group members have to offer. Cheers!
