My 09 is going in for it's 600 mile service ( I know its not much but we have 3 other bikes) the strom in so different from our other bikes ( wing, DN-01, and a CRF) it take some getting used to the sounds and vibes of the big V twin.

I have noticed that at 3 k or so I start to hear some taping... Sounds like some valve noise. Is this normal, could it need a valve adj this soon or is it an inspection item for the first service as I have seen on other bikes,,,,

I though the clutch chudder was only on the early yrs.
I wish! Just had to have my '09 basket done a couple months ago.
The chudder doesn't make a taping sound though and presumably wouldn't start at 600miles. Talk to the service tech who will be working on your bike about it, not just the service manager.

No you don't need the valves adjusted at 600mi... These motors are noisy just stop listening to it and ride it.

Better yet why even take it in period @600mi. Just pick up a oil filter and a gal of Shell Rotella 15w40 and change the oil & filter your self and go ride.
