Hi everybody,

Obsessing about luggage for my wee over the winter. Has anyone used or heard anything about the Giant Loop soft luggage that fits over the passenger seat? I'd surely appreciate any feedback on this or any other product as I'm only familiar with soft cruiser bags that I had on my 650 maxims. Thanks,
Chris.

I guess the big question is: what do you intend on using the luggage for? Long trips? Just around town? Also, is price a big factor? It's very easy to spend over $1000 on hard bags.

Great BAsin make a bag that goes over the passenger seat. Pricey though.
I would think you could get a used frame work and items like the Sea Horse bags, like I have, for less.
There advantages to both hard and soft luggage. Depends on keeping you happy.
I like the hard bags because it defines the space available and forces me to consider what I take. I do have a U pack from Rev pack for the rear seat which holds all my camping gear less the stove. Getting the most space saving yet efficient gear I can gets it all in the bag, man. I just added a set of Trekking poles for those camp outs near a decent trail. And it all fits. Yay.

I love my Jesse Panniers! However, I really wish I had soft bags for my dirt only trips. In fact, its very high on my priority list to have a set of soft bags before the next riding season starts.

hi slt824,

big question, also a good one . I certainly intend long trips eventually as my experience grows, and want to keep that in mind. Should also have mentioned that the bike came with a 35l kappa top case. Also camping but maybe not this next year as my toy allowance is only so stretchable.

You really can't go wrong with either the Givi or Kappa luggage. They are the same company and the Kappa is a little cheaper. I'm not sure where you are in
Ontario, but there are a couple of good distributors out there.

You might want to keep checking the for sale section in this area. I see it come up once in a while.

Givi seems to be the industry standard, for sure. I'm just north of Owen Sound, so not too far from Toronto, London, Kitchener, etc. I'll keep an eye out for deals and sales. Thanks for the input!

Check out Saddlemans TS3200DE Deluxe Tail Bag, for less than 150 clams, has loads of storage and the sides zip off for carrying stuff. My buddy bought one and I was very impressed.

Cheers!

A Vicious Cycle near Kitchener has the Kappa K40 hard bags at $386.99 a pair. Or if you want something smaller and tighter to the bike, they have the K33 PLX also for $386.99. The rack for the K40s is $173.99, and for the K33s it's $193.99. If you go the K40 option (which were the OEM luggage on the early Vees) the cost would be $560.98 plus tax. Not a lot more than the Giant Loop bag for waterproof locking storage who's rack will protect your bike's back end in a crash. (I've tested it):headbang:

Here's a shot of my Wee with the K40s. The bags stick out about an inch more than the handlebars.
