Hi All,

I had vaguely noticed this in the past but not the I have my NEP Throttle Lock installed I can do all kinds of dumb things.. like ride with no hands.

I noticed (and vaguely recall hearing previously) of lower speed wobbles when lightly or not holding the handlebars.

Is this the kind of thing that a Fork Braces can cure? It isn't any kind of a big deal, and can be instantly stopped by grabbing the bars, but I was thinking of getting a Brace anyway.

I never noticed a slow-speed wobble, but I do have a fork brace on my bike. Where I noticed the greatest improvement before and after the brace was in conditions with a side wind. Passing trucks on the slab used to be real ugly. With the fork brace I can ride right beside them with no problems. I know that doesn't answer your question, but there is a noticeable reduction in wobble before and after installing the brace.

The tire is stock. I have lowered the front fork about half an inch, but I think I noticed it when the bike was new as well.

It isn't a wobble that wants to keep getting worse.. a light touch stops it. It is just noticeable at that speed range.

I'll bet you have a Metzler Tourance front tire?

You might be on to something...

It doesn't wobble at higher speeds up to 170 kph, only the gentle one at the low speed but only with no hands on the handlebar.

I had the same problem. It is the front tire. The Bridgestone gets a few miles on it and gets that funky wear pattern. It gets worse as time goes on. One thing to do is run slightly less air pressure than recomended. I tried the Metzler and quickly changed it back to the BS. I run the Metzler on the rear and the BS on the front.

I haven't added a fork brace yet, but it surely won't hurt.

Most motorcycles I have ever ridden will have a wobble with no hands on the handlbars at some speed.

Much of it is due to the steering head bearings not being adjusted properly - usually too loose. Those bearings will loosen as you ride and need to be periodically adjusted.

MightyShep has an online Service Manual available for your use. Follow this link over to the procedure for checking this tension.

Hope this helps.

I got it on my 05 Wee with the ME880 front and it's a little better with the Avon Venom X

I had a wobble like that with my stock tire, when I switched to a Bridgestone BT020 it stopped. Now I have Metzler Tourances and no wobble either. Maybe the tread pattern or the tire itself.

yup, yup.

guy visits his doctor and says:

"doc ... it hurts when i do this."

and the doc says,

"then don't do that!"

seriously ... you might want to check if your steering head bearings are loose. if not ... just keep one hand on the bars.

I had a wobble from my stock front TW. Didn't notice it much at first, but after a few K miles, it seemed to get worse. I finally had to replace it w/ less than 5k miles. The dealer gave me a pretty good discount on another TW, which ran just fine until I replaced it just about a month ago. Now running the Battlewings (frt & rear) with no complaints whatsoever. It tracks fine even with no hands (not that I would actually do such a thing..)!
