Howdy All,

I’m planning to do some gravel riding this summer and would like both folding gear and rear brake levers. Has anybody had any luck with the inexpensive eBay gearshift levers(see below) ? I know Tusk makes something but I haven’t been able to find it for the gray beast.

Thanks for the help.

I have not found anything for the rear brake but did put on a Tusk gear shift lever last year. Got mine from Ebay, but you need to look for one designed for the Suzuki DR650. It is a simple shift lever and eliminates the linkage found on our bikes, I like it.Only possible issue is that it sticks out a little further from the motor than the OEM, and may be slightly more vulnerable to snagging on trailside debris. Will post pics later. If you find anything for the rear brake lever please post here as mine is slightly bent and I would like to replace it.

Thanks Ellwood. I’ll keep you posted.
Thanks for this. I guess this is the only solution for our bike.

Thanks for the pics. You’re right it does stick out a little further, but I’d rather have that than a non-functioning shifter if I fall.

Just curious - how far forward is the shifter now?

Can you still change gear with your boot on the peg?

I love the idea but looking at my Gen 2 it would put the shifter way forward??

It is a bit further forward but not enough that I really notice it. If the arch of my foot is on the peg I have to move my foot forward a hair to shift, but I also have sw motech pegs which are larger than the stock ones. My heel is still firmly on the peg while shifring. Mine is 1st gen, not sure how it compares to newer models
I have an old Touratech shifter with a folding tip, same as above really. With my size 12 boots and my arch on the peg, I've shifting with the base of my big toe. Much prefer the shifter without linkage. Heavier shift effort, but precise, never gums up, never falls off.
