Hello - I recently purchased a Wee and I'm looking to meet other Wee owners for rides and information exchange. I live in Winter Park - long rides are my preference, but will ride anywhere.
Are there any meet groups around? Anyone?

Melbourne has a few of us over here but I get the impression the West coast has the most Wee owners. Not aware of any organization for Strom owners specifically, but there are a few rides that show up from time to time.

I'm in Winter Park and ride on the weekends quite often. Not quite as much in the heat here lately. I've been riding with a Meetup.com group out of Oviedo call the OVIEDO MOTORCYCLE RIDERS. It's a mixed group of bikes and the people are very friendly. There's at least one other Wee rider there. The guy who leads it has a great knowledge of the back roads around Central Florida and beyond.

On the other hand; if you want to ride with just one other Wee sometime, I'd probably be up for it.

The Florida Troopers use to do RTE's (Ride To Eat) every once in awhile. Pick some spot for lunch then everyone would ride there to kick tires, eat, tell tall tales and meet other Stromtroopers. I haven't seen one in a long time though. Maybe I'll propose something in the fall after it cools down a bit.

I'm in Longwood and long rides? I mostly ride alone because no one I know rides for more than 45 miles or 45 minutes, which ever comes first. I have rode up to my brothers house in Maryland and back several times. Been to Deals Gap and back. So long rides don't bother me. I'm available about every other weekend.

Jaime, I am down in Sarasota. If you ever want to explore this area, let me know. I will be heading to the mountains of NC in August if you want to go. Horizons Unlimited will be having a get together at Iron Horse motorcycle resort. I beleive the V strom group is trying to plan a get together in October at Iron Horse also. I would be willing to meet around Ocala one Saturday if you like. Seems to be some pretty nice backroads up in that area. Vince

A highlight of October is ...

The Coast-to-Coast ride that "Cruz'n' Al" organizes.

Typically Stroms are in the minority on this ride, but of course we make up in quality for any deficiency in quantity. There will be lots of publicity in the Florida section as the days get shorter and the license plates start changing color.

Meanwhile, we sometimes have rides inside our state and sometimes far beyond its borders. I can't be part of these things just now, because I am visiting Canada until early August.

We are a very cordial bunch, and you will probably enjoy our company,
either swapping lies at a restaurant or riding elegantly along the twisty
roads that the experienced riders know well.

I was thinking about taking a loop ride over to the East coast and back up the center of the state; around 200 miles. I want to scout a future kayak location in Sabastian. I'd be happy to have some company.

BTW - I've requested to join (again) the Oviedo Riders group in Meetup.com. I say again because I had been there some years back. Good to see they are still around - may other groups have come and gone quickly.

The Oviedo Riders have a ride Saturday morning (as always) but it has gotten so popular there are already 13 riders signed up. I get a little uneasy with groups of more than 6 or so. That's why I was planning the solo trip. I've been going on their weekday evening rides.

Hey guys, I'm also a new strom rider from the Orlando area (around UCF). I went out for a ride with the oviedo motorcycle riders last saturday, and, barring a bit of a mishap, had a blast! Also met several other v strom riders, tho only one tagged along with the big group.

Well, this weekend is out for me. Some tile we ordered for a backsplash came in a couple days early, so I'll be busy with that this weekend. Maybe next weekend? If anyone's up for it, we can meet up in the UCF/Oviedo area and I can lead a ride over some roads on the east side of Orlando. Not a lot of good roads over here, mostly scenic stuff in ranch country, a few sweepers here and there.

Looking for riders in South Florida

My name is Jimmy and I have a 06' dl650 and I'm looking for people who enjoy long trips. I was planning on a trip to Canada for the last three months and the guy backed out three days before we went. I'm thinking of going to Iron horse in October, and would like to plan a couple small trips in between. I recently purchased a go-pro camera and was really excited to use it! Is there anyone in my area or nearby that are interested?
