Hi John,

Without pulling out a map, I know the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive go in your desired direction.

They're both incredibly scenic and most people love those roads.

I'm not one of those people. I rode the Blue Ridge a couple years ago, and in the middle of the second day, I had to find someplace more interesting to ride. The Parkway is undeniably scenic, but it's also loaded with RVs and Harleys. There's no culture to see. No locals. No small country towns... 40 or 45 mph enforced speed limit. Just not my kind of thing. Fortunately, there are lots of really great roads near the Parkway.

Wow - your description of the BRP and Skyline is like complaining about finding a virgin prostitute. ;)

John,

Everything Jamie said is why I like those roads. No trucks, very little traffic on the weekdays - hell I have ridden a lot of the BRP on Memorial Day weekend and felt lonely the traffic was so sparse.

To each his own......220 would be a good bet for quite a lot of the trip.

If you end up liking the BRP you could hook up with then Natchez Trace from Knoxville to Natchez, MS another park road - scenic -
