Check this gentleman out. High Mileage Wee.

Take some time to read Verle Nelson's stuff if you can. A lifelong motorcyclist, DL650 fan and rider, as well as a good writer. Good stuff, worth the time.

Steve is an old friend and I've been around him since he was thrashing GL1500's. Great guy to talk to and he has seen it all!

For your own safety, I think it's time to hang up your boots, pardner. When you recognize as novel something you discovered a mere three months ago, senility has arrived at your doorstep.
D(smack)talk, either you didn't read it 3 months ago or you didn't read it today or you read it both times and still don't recognize that the photographs as well as the write up is different now than it was then in which case it might be your time to consider hanging up your spurs and your ass-less chaps if, in fact, you have a pair :biggrinjester:. The senility of which you speak might be your own.

To recap; new pictures/new information about the rider. In my humble opinion this is worthy of sharing again since it contains new pics and new info. Verle Nelson's web site it ALWAYS worth a plug.

Worst case scenario it's not another buffeting, oil, seat, or tire thread.:cheers2:

What kind of oil does he use? Is that the stock seat

Yeah, and what kinda tires and what grade of gas?
Lots of us have out 3-4 hundred thousand mile on bikes. Some the stinking BMW-ites have passed a million. We don't know when or where to get off.
It's good to have a HERO though! Personally, I have a problem with a Santa Dude with Flames on the bike. It's too much for my head.

Oil wise, nothing special. Just whatever is cheap and available. He does use OEM filters.

The seat is an RDL of course. It needs a little repair work done on it the last I'd seen. One of the seams is starting to come loose, but he won't quit riding it long enough to sew it up.

The last tire he mounted on the rear was a Metzeler Tourance. I believe that is what he's running up front as well.
