ok, had one of these, not Kisan, but a different brand and wound up taking it off the bike. The problem for me was that the unit would cancle way too early and there was no way to extend the time without resering the switch. The other problem I had was because the turn signal switch on the bike is mechanical you have to reset it every time before you can turn it on in the same direction. These units do not work well with mechanical switches.

Thanks for the input. Perhaps the Kisan has addressed these shortcomings. The Kisan has 3 cancel speeds selected by dip switches, and a circuit to keep the turn signal on while the brake is applied. I don't know how well that works but it seems to make sense. Also, they supply springs to add to the turn signal switch so it returns to nuetral after it's pushed making it a sort of momentary contact switch. Again, I dont know how well that works, ergo my post asking for anyone's experience with the unit.

I'm wondering also

Mainly interested in the Signal Minder unit though for the running light and hazard flasher function, and the easy install of the Kisan Vectra Lights (little LED arrays that go on your mirrors)....

Hoping somebody has some experience with it....

Thanks.

Kisan unit

I had one on my FJR. It works as advertised tied to the brake light. I am not going to install it on the Strom. After 10 flashes it will shut off unless you have the brake on. ( you have to wire it to the brake circuit.)
The 4 way flashers will only flash 10 times also.
You do have to reset the signal switch when turning, normal operation.
I am not good at canceling when things are really busy. I am going to install extra leds on each side high on the dash to help remind me to cancel.

I have one. It has been nothing but headaches. The return springs will not work in the 2007 switch housing (which has been redesigned since 2006), the foam springs that they send you will not work for this either.

Currently I have 1500 miles on mine and it is now dead. I will call them monday for a replacement. They have excellent customer service at least.

kisan

? Put one on my 01 FZ1 26,000 MILES ago, use rear running light and hyperlight option. Has three flash count choices.
Have to mod for return springs so I've left them off and use long count. Then I don't have to worry about forgetting, worst case is double hit for next use. for the price fine. NO failures mentioned on FZ1 or three other boards I frequent. Odd.

I have the Kisan unit on all bikes that don't offer OEM signal cancel. They work great. I've also installed them on dozens of friends bikes without an issue. Use the long delay and the brake overide and it works great...........Much better than "right turn around the world syndrome"

Kisan signal minders

I installed these on both our V-Stroms so I would not get mad when my wife called me via radio and said hey stupid your turn signal is on. When you ride in the #2 position all the time you can turn yours off because the leader forgot and then remind him to cancle. They work as advertised. Our are set to flash 15 - 20 times and then cancel unless the brake light is on. I did not wire in my running lights because that would give me a amber on the rear all the time. The additional mirror lights (That I did not order) would plug into the unit via 2 phone like jacks. Sometimes I forget to reset my switch post a Kisan self cancel. That is no big event I just trained myself to press in one time 1st, then apply the flasher. I did not try to install the re-centering springs. I like mine, would purchase again.
