I was also going to replace the plates. Does the radiator need to be drained to open the case? It looks like the water pump is right on top of it.

I think I need to replace the clutch release mechanism as too many bearings are missing and it is now binding up. Let me know if you have one that you could ship quickly!

Oil and coolant need to be drained before taking off the clutch cover. I would just replace the clutch release assembly first if I were you. It's only about $50 new and may be all you need. There have been very few cases of plates needing to be renewed.

thanks greywolf. the main issue at hand is the release mechanism. I really just didn't want to sit around for 7 days waiting for it to be shipped. :headbang:

i did go ahead and order plates for down the road.

My current trip has been taken me 21,000 miles, and will probably last another 20,000 if everything goes right. Some preventative maintence hopefully
