Good afternoon!

So I've spent some time on this bike already. Made the purchase yesterday and took it on a low speed (lots of stops) test ride, and shortly after the deal I ran it down the interstate for an hour and a half to get home.

But by the time I got back in town, Whenever I'd come to a stop the rpms would fluctuate a little. By the last few stops before I got home the fluctuations would cause the bike to stall.

When I got home I let it idle while still warm in my garage and the RPMS would flutter until the bike would inevitably die. This morning it wouldn't start without giving it gas.

I've tightened the idle idle screw so that it idles around 1500 rpms without dying (haven't let it idle for more than a few minutes though), but the fluctuations of max 100 rpms are still present. I'd attach a video to this post to show what I'm dealing with but I'm having some trouble doing so. I can direct message folks or email them if more info is needed.

This is my second bike and the first bike I've done practically any maintenance on so consider my 100% green. Any tips/tricks/pointers are very welcome, the only thing I've done to the bike so far is adjust that idle screw, the rest is brain surgery to me at the moment.

Thank you all for the help and I hope to hear back soon!

Vid MIA. How many miles on your new bike?

These symptoms could be caused by a lot of things so you are going to have to take it slow and troubleshoot and post what you learn to rule things in or out. Almost stalling when coming to a stop when hot (after interstate run) could be the throttle position sensor. Other things to check would be fuel flow or plugged fuel pump filter or vacuum leaks. The DL1000 is known to dislodge the throttle body boots. I'd inspect the tank filler and see if there is any tank rust. These are more things to search here to find other posts with similar symptoms to narrow your focus. Use advanced search to expand the search range as I think the basic search only goes back 2-3 years and most of the DL2006 posts were long before that. Another resource is vstrom.info forums, that site is dormant but was popular during the Gen1 DL1000's heyday with lots of good info.

Also, here is a recent post for 100% green mechanics to give you some hope. @Rhino H "Unimaginable Courage"
