Hey All.. Pretty excited, I just picked this one up on eBay.. Great people to deal with and I got the price down to $5450. I think it's a pretty good deal with the exhaust, top case, etc..

What mods would you recommend from here? Not sure if this has the stock seat? Windshield looks aftermarket also.. Any tips in general for a new owner would be great. Thx, and look forward to being a part of the community.

One other thought - this doesn't come with a standard windshield, the one it comes with looks pretty tall. Any recommendations on one thats a bit shorter than this, but longer than stock? I'm picking it up tomorrow.

Just at quick glance...

It looks to have the older style Madstat bracket but thats not a big deal, still adjustable, you might want to consider cutting the windshield and if that doesn't suit you then consider replacing it, there are too many choices to list. Do a search there's ton's of suggestions and pics. Some have big issues with buffeting so you'll want to tread carefully.

Some mirror extenders will reduce turbulance and give you less of a view of your shoulders

I would definitely consider a centerstand, and the seat looks to be from a DL650, depending on the year of Wee it came from it will be from .5 to 1 inch lower. It's not a great seat but some are ok with it, you might be able to find someone to trade you their DL1000 seat for your DL650. It's a better seat, and slightly taller if that suits you better.

Luggage of course... again too many choices to list. Search is your friend here.

I had a k6 1000 and I can tell you what I added that I liked. A 12v outlet, richland Rick mirror extenders and fork brace. A center stand is nice , but I have a lift that I got from areostich that raises the bike to make the chain care easier.
Make sure to check the chain and sprockets they seem to go about 20k or so, but it depends a lot on the rider. If the windscreen is too tall for your taste it can be cut or I would first tilt it a bit back and see if that is ok.
The most important thing for now is just ride it and see what you think it needs and after a couple thousand you will know

As far as new to you maintenance, I'd do the following:

Change oil/filter
Change air filter
Drain/flush brake and coolant fluid
Change spark plugs
Get the throttle bodies synched
Get valves check if never done and mileage indicates it should have been done.
Check brake pads and replace if necessary
Check chain and sprockets to see if they need replacing, clean and lube if not.
Check tires for tread depth and age if possible

As for mods, I say ride it for a month or so, then upgrade what you want/need. You might want better brake feel, so some SS lines would be in order. You might want a different windscreen, seat, stiffer suspension, etc.

I just picked up an 05 Wee and I'm already compiling a list of mods I feel this bike needs to be even more well rounded.

Cig plug for an air compressor, heated grips, center stand. Might consider aux fuseblock for lights, etc. Looks pretty well set up already. If you do anything that might jeopardize the undercarriage an Enduro Guardian skid plate is a good investment.

Centerstand!

I didn't get one with my new Wee and have come to regret it. Lubing the chain without a centerstand or rear wheel support is a challenge. Sometimes when I'm parking the bike, I'd feel better if I had the centerstand option for a more secure "park" (read: curious onlookers).

Other than that, may I suggest you ride and decide? Farkeling a Strom can become addictive.

Get 1000 miles under your belt as is, then tweak it to your liking. :yesnod:
