Honestly, that is a LOT of money for that bike. As for the "$5,000 in extras", well.....truth is on the used market they aren't worth that much. Under all those extras there is just a 700 Tenere. The Tenere is a nice bike but one really needs to think about just what their TRUE use of the bike will be. Many have illusions of racing Dakar or something when in reality they might never get off pavement or will just do a dirt road or something.
Look at this bike just to see what that sort of big money will buy:
Almost new 850 Triumph

The T7 is a fantastic bike. The only true big dual sport unless you want a KTM.

They are around $10,500 to $11,000 new, around me. That’s a bunch of miles if the bike was ridden off-road a lot.

Around 24k in around 2 years. That is a lot of riding. Well I paid less than a third of that for a bike with 6k miles. But I do think the Tenere looks so sweet.

I have a buddy who got one of the first in our area to do BDRs. I love the bike. Yamaha finally cracked the code with a twin dual sport.

KTM has nice ones too, if you like turning wrenches some and possibly experiencing some typical KTM issues.

I'd love to drive that 850 Triumph back to back with the Tenere. I'd never need 70 plus HP on the dirt.

Considering the MSRP, I'd say that seller wants to have ridden 24K miles for free....

What are the high points of the Tenere and what's it got the Wee doesn't?

Decent offroad capable suspension is the main one, that and the 21" front wheel. A seat where many riders (including me) couldn't reach the ground (34.6 v 32), it's not as bad as some bikes but that's one of the reasons I stuck with the Wee.

I could get places bikes with 21" fronts could on my DL but I was often slower and it was often hard work. On smoother surfaces though it flips around, 21" and long suspension is less stable.

I used to be faster than KTM990's on a DL650 on many of the dirt roads around here, I spent money on suspension and they'd weave badly (i.e. whole road width weaves) at speed on washboards. Suspension quality was comparable, but they couldn't beat the inherent flex in the long front end.

Note. I'm not dissing the T7 here, I just don't ride much hard dirt these days and the DL covers the riding I do better. Had it been available years back, I'd probably have one.

That offer doesn't make any sense. $13,900 for a well-used bike with 23,000 miles when you can buy a brand new one out-the-door for just over $12k? Why would anyone not just buy a new bike?
IMO, never underestimate the value of a brand new bike with a full warranty.

I rode a T7 on a demo ride once. Clutch cover seemed to be jammed into my right leg all the time.

Nope. (n)

$14 grand!!

More nope.
To answer your question very simply.... Is the Tenere cooler than your wee? YES

Cooler is a nebulous term. The strom is a better rough road touring bike. The T7 is a big ass dual sport better suited for trails.

It’s just different.

It is the new hot thing, so yes of course it is cooler.

I also have a DR650 which is considered to be heavy and the T7 is considered to be light. The T7 weighs more than the DR so go figure.

This...🔺
This is why I say think about what you really want the bike to be. The "T7" is the better bike off road if that is what you plan on doing a lot of. The Strom is a nice bike on the road and is OK for "light" off road. I had a Kaw 650 KLR which was much better off road than a Wee but it ended up more on the pavement than off so I switched bikes and found the Vstrom to be much more then bike I enjoyed for the type of riding I do. The Triumph is up a level or two from the Vsrom in many ways to include the pricing.
Many factors to consider when picking the right bike.

If "cooler" means "harder to find on the showroom floor because it's the flavor of the day" then yes :). Really different bikes though. I compare my vstrom to my Honda Passport: a little more ground clearance, slightly trail friendly suspension, but lol at all those reviewers trying to drive it up a steep rocky hill. It's not an offroad vehicle, certainly in stock trim. The T7 is probably more comparable to a Wrangler. Very capable offroad and with plenty of YT vids to prove it, but I have to think you give up something in road manners.
