Sorry if this is a dumb question, but does this "plate" come standard on the DL1000? I ask because I've seen some pics of stroms without it. I know that it is not as strong as the other options out there, but I mainly ride all street. If I were to go on the ocassional dirt road (nothing crazy), would this be ok or would you all recommend something else?

I have the 650 so cain't say if the 1000 comes with it. I ride dirt/gravel roads occasionally with no skid plate, no problems.

A skid plate is mostly protection for high centering.

Sort of.......

But a decent alloy one like the B&B bash plate from Australia is one of the best you will get.
DL650 V STROM

Narcosis Junkie [on this forum] does another good one, look for his recent posts on them.

There are others, but I would suggest you only get a one piece-welded- one, not the two piece riveted ones.

Have a 1000 and it did come stock. I would'nt really consider it a skid plate, more of a cover if anything. Very easy to crack if you hit some object.
