Instrument Cluster Replacement

My Speedo is off by about 10% so I'm going to replace it...:biggrinjester:

I purchased a DL1000 today that needs some work. I'm wondering when I replace the gauges will the mileage be stored on the bike's ecu and "told" to the new cluster, or is it solely stored within the actual (damaged) cluster?

If your interested here is a link to my purchase.

The mileage is held in the gauge cluster.

I replaced mine at 54,000 miles, now it reads 2500 miles. Which I guess has improved resale.... :fineprint:
