"A typical conversation went something like this: “What do you think of the V-Strom 650?” a reader would ask. “Well,” I’d say, “it’s really the ideal motorcycle. MotoGP-like acceleration, Paris-Dakar ground clearance, sexier than a Zagato-bodied Lancia and oh, please, that mellifluous sound!” And then I’d wait a beat before asking what bike they rode. “A V-Strom 650!” they’d say, as I gently guided them to the subscription table. Worked a charm. Every time. But it seems those days may be coming to an end."
