Love the Bike

An Inline Fuel Filter would be nice.

OR a way to change the fuel filter that does not involve removing the tank,
turning it upside down and pulling out the pump.

If a dirty fuel/filter problem occurs on the side of the road..... this would be a nightmare...

If you FI is working properly, there's nothing in the line to filter. Fuel has to be filtered before it's pressurized by the in-tank pump. Stop buying gas at "Bubbas" if dirty fuel is a problem. :shock: Removing the tank and pump isn't that hard regardless..

Man, I've seen some zombie threads rising from the grave, but this one has to be some sort of record... :mrgreen:


In any case, the point stands; an inline fuel filter would be really awesome.

The debate over the point of filtration has already been settled: all (or at least almost all) fuel-injected cars and trucks have a "sock" screen filter in the tank over the fuel pump intake to filter the larger chunks out, then an inline filter outside of the fuel tank to do the fine filtration. Fuel pumps can tolerate far more contamination than fuel injectors.

Most cars also mount the pump from the top of the tank, but this would be rather problematic on a motorcycle where the top of the tank is exposed. On bikes like the Gold Wing, where the actual fuel tank resides deep inside the bike, the pump mounts from the top.
