Increase torque on a 2020 Vstrom xt

Hello,

Not sure if this is the correct thread. This is my first post. Wondering if 2020 Vstrom XT owners had increased horsepower and or torque on their pick. What steps did you take.

Button.

I have a 2014, I fitted a PCFC and had a custom tune done on a dyno.

I got heaps more torque and moved it much lower in the RPM's

As soon as I got the bike it I dropped one tooth from the front sprocket, this helped liven the bike up, I never used 6th gear anyway.
Cheapest and most effective way is to sell the bike you currently have and buy the bike with the torque/horsepower numbers that you want.

All too often people buy a lower HP bike with the illusion that the manufacturer has detuned them and to free up more torque or HP the owner simply makes an adjustment or ad an aftermarket silencer and all of a suddenly an extra 40 HP and 37 ft/lbs of torque will magically appear.

It's true! Most people know that the Ninja 250 has 28 HP stock but what they do not know is if you unplug the power reducer fuse (it's the big red on in the fuse block that says "DANGER DO NOT REMOVE") the bike will be unrestricted and will now produce 180 HP to contend with the Ninja 1000. Just beware of the guy on the Ninja 1000 removes his fuse he'll have 566 HP and 427 ft/lbs of torque.
1050 is detuned. You only get 66% of power in first two gears.

Hey perazz instead of hijacking someone’s first ever thread why not just let people answer it

Welcome to the Forum. For what purpose are you trying to boost the torque / horse power? Is this for hill climbing, head wind, more top speed or low end torque for off road work? Maybe if you explained what you have in mind, you may receive a helpfull solution.

I would go with a slightly less restrictive end can — like the akrvpovic — and then an ECUreflash, rather than a Power Commander, by a tuner that uses the Woolich software and attachments.

There are may thing ne could do to increase power. Big bore kit, custom cams along with a full exhaust and custom mapping. Then if that is not enough porting/flowing, decking the heads for more air/fuel and compression. Possibly bigger valves, stroker kit?? The depth of your pockets is the only limiting factor in the quest for more power.

The OP could possibly get away with a gearing change. While this done not add or decrease power it moves the power around the RPM range that may better suit the riders needs.

A free flowing muffler typically sacrifices low end power and add it on the top end. If the OP is looking for max HP at top end then possibly this is the answer. If looking for power in the lower RPM ranges a free flowing muffler may be counter productive.

That would be true. But we always should be receptive to OP first ever posting

Good question. Would be great to have a little more midrange when on the Highway, if I need to get away from a situation. Had a Concours14 prior to this bike so probably getting over that lol.
Best way to get more torque out of a Vstrom is to regear it using the sprockets.
