Hey every one,

I got this dl1000k4 a month ago. It had 14k miles on it and I don't think it was making any noise like it is now.

I didn't know what type of oil the previous owner was using so I used regular 10-40 like the book says.

The next time I rode the bike I noticed an inconsistent knock that is only aparant after the bike is good and hot.

I found out that the previous owner was using a synthetic so I changed it again, new oil and filter and it is still knocking.

Any one out there have any suggesitons?

Thanks
Ryan

Does it occur while at idle? If so, it sounds like idle hammer. Do a search for it and you'll find it is pretty normal, but can be reduced by different motor oils.

Yes, this is most obvious at idle, above that it is hard to tell if the noise is there or if it increases w/ engine speed,

Thanks, I'll theck it out
