I've got a '12 650 with 130000km on it. Recently on a 10 day ride it cut out while sitting on 130kmh, turned out the ignition fuse had blown, replaced and continued on, 2500 km later same thing. Every time I replaced the fuse it would blow, then it didn't bike ran good, rode 100metres stopped. Trailered it home, connector under tank and above the radiator had a burnt pin and the plastic had melted, cut the 2 wires and joined them with another connector. New fuse bike started and ran good, stopped and restarted it about 10 times. Rode 100metres stopped again, blown fuse, checked wiring for burning, nothing visible, checked the usual switches etc, replaced fuse, bike starts runs ok,everything else works fine, let the bike run for about 20 minutes stopped it and started about 10 times no problem, jiggled all the wiring no effect, bike keeps running. Has anyone else had a similar problem, I've lost all confidence in it, I'm just as likely to be left stranded again. I've had it since new and this is the first time it's let me down, I've owned 3 others and never had any problems with them and I put 295000km on one of them. Thanks I'm interested to get your input

You'll need to find where it's leaking to ground with a meter. Here's the schematic. Start at the battery and work your way to the left. Look for wire chafing.

"Rode 100metres stopped again, blown fuse"

Suggests that you still have a short. You haven't wiggled enough wires yet. You may have to take off the panels and do a more intensive search for the short.

This is where we need GW

I think it was around 2012 some of the 650's had a problem with the wires rubbing through on the frame above your left ankle ???

It's worth a look.

That was the thick wire bundle to the left of the coolant reservoir under the gas tank. GW thought the salt from roads may have been a factor. I wrapped mine.
