I need a small favor from the group. It doesn't cost much, it's easy and enjoyable, and I don't think enyone here will consider it to be a hardship.

They say that what you do on the first day of the year you will do throughout the year. So my favor is this: I want everyone here who can to get out and ride somewhere tomorrow, but I want to qualify that to. I want everyone to get out and ride SAFELY. I don't care if it's just to the end of your driveway or halfway across the country, the distance doesn't matter. The key word is SAFELY and that's what I want. Everyone who can get your gear out, dust it off, and ride somewhere SAFELY. Bring the speed down if necessary, keep the eyes moving to watch the traffic, and come back home safe. If you do it tomorrow maybe it will help throughout the year.

You guys who are snowed-in, under the weather (get well soon!), or in between bikes are excused from this exercise and we will all share our good luck with you this year.

I'm not a superstitious person, but when old fables might bring good luck it's worth taking a chance on (knock on wood!).

100% chance of heavy rain coming to New England tomorrow, and my bike plates expire at midnight. I'm going out this afternoon instead. :)

Rain here too...but I took a nice ride yesterday, although it wasn't ALL on my Strom. My new DR650 is an absolute hoot to ride, kinda hard to let it sit in the garage. I took my other lady out too...no worries! I forget just how fast and snappy the big Strom truly is "at least mine", pretty cool to switch bikes in the same day. No replacement for displacement!!!

HAPPY NEW YEARS TO ALL!!!!!!!

Keep it up B and we will have to eject you from the Stromtrooper board. The big V needs equal time or else.....

Cloudy and cool here. Predicting rain for the next five days. Going to take advantage and am heading off now for a 120 km round trip to Jordan River. Gonna be cold.

Yeah, we had that rain all day today and last night. Finally cleared off late this afternoon and I guess it headed up northeast from here. Supposed to be nice here tomorrow so if anyone wants me I'll be on the road somewhere ;)

6 am New Years day and I was waaay ahead of you.

Yes, it was a careful ride, not for any reason other than it was a beautiful day here and I was just enjoying the fresh washed scenery. (It rained overnight). The only road hazards other than the damp patches on the road - one stray dog, an empty carton of beer, a dead possum, and two very sleepy police manning speed cameras. (Bitch all you like if you get caught, but that job has to absolutely suck over the holiday season.).

Two hours later I'm back home, have some breakfast and catch an hours sleep in the morning sun.

Cheers
Pete

O.k.

Mission accomplished! Went for a short ride around the neighborhood. I can't remember when the last time I was able to ride on New Years Day was.

This morning I woke up, did a TBS on the bike, and went for a short ride. I stopped at the video store to return some movies and this dude pulls up on a stripped down Road King with a Yamaha engine. What a great bike! This guy can turn a wrench and you could tell his bike is a rider's bike. There were all sorts of custom parts and brackets. I think he even said he was using an air filter from a cadillac and some part from a lawnmower. We swapped stories and had a great conversation. Long story short, it was a great morning ride and I hope the rest of the year will follow suit.

Happy New Year everyone!

Cool (in more ways than one!)! Sounds like some of us are getting out and riding today. Just keep it safe.

It was COLD and windy here. 41 when I got back home but it felt a lot colder than that. Probably closer to upper 30's outside of Nashville. I managed 100 miles, but that was about all I could handle.
