Dan Vesel Skid Plate. Dan is making them out of 14 guage metal now. In addition to four mounting points, it has a polyethylene bumper that contacts the bottom of the engine (and also helps to dampen any ringing that might propagate through the plate). He says you can use a bike lift under it too.

I'd replace those hex head nuts with button head socket bolts, less likely to hang up on rocks etc.

I wouldn't. It's a heck of a lot easier to get a bashed up hex bolt off then a bashed up button head bolt.

Good point. The bolts might get hacked a bit but they certainly won't cause the bike itself to hang up so to speak.

I'm actually not planning to hit the plate again!!

I have the DL 1000 and, frankly, I doubt I will be taking it offroad at all. It's just too heavy. I can see myself cruising some Forest Service & BLM gravel roads, as I like to hunt, fish, and camp.

Is a heavier duty skid plate really needed for a guy like me?

Does this skid plate work with the SW Motech centerstand without alteration of the skid plate?

"It is not very clear to me who makes it. The pictures were taken in this dealeship http://www.andriopoulos.gr/ but the skidplate since then has been sold through out Greece so I'm not sure who makes it. If you click at the lower part of the above webpage you'll reach the main webpage where you 'll see some phone numbers. You could try to call them and ask for the phone number of the manufacturer but you might have some trouble communicating in English.
I guess if you guys are really interested in it, call them and try to locate the manufacturer. The price seems to be 180-200 euros."

Try to phone Greece or the Spanish Forum
