I know it's ridiculously early, but....

I'd like to hear from some of you locals on this...

We pick our vacation for the entire next year around this time every year. So, tonight I picked a week in May for no other reason other than that it was available. I want to turn it into a bike adventure, which I've never really done. A multi-day trip, similar to what BTD did, but I'd sure like to have company.

I'll be off from Wednesday, May 7th through Thursday, May 15th. Like I said, it's SUPER early to be thinking about this, but I missed all the long trips this year you guys did, and I'm dying to get one in come springtime. I'm inspired by the Iron Butt Rally article I read in this month's Motorcyclist magazine.

I have no idea where I want to go, but I want to ride and maybe camp out. Maybe into Canada? Along the lakes? Maybe down into the Blue Ridge Parkway, through WV along the New River? Towards New England? I don't want to go for the whole week, but just a few days and nights.

Train, Handy, BigB, Scarlett, GRS, Firedog, BobbySand, MeefZah and all the rest of you locals I'm leaving out, who's interested? Do you guys pick vacation in advance?

Who's got good destination ideas?

i see u r plannin a trip...and route is up in air, somewhat. there ia a really cool dual sport rally goin on in tellico plains tn. in may...1 week after your planned trip.

i attended this last year and had an absolute blast. every type of riding u may want to do...easy asphalt to single track. u can ride on your own or with with a group that has a guide. the guided rides are better cuz the guides are locals that know the area and have scouted the routes in advance. lots of dirt, gravel and water crossings.
it is mostly klr's but all dual sports are welcome. it is held at a motorcycle campground that is very clean with new showers with endless hot water! they have a few cabins, but they go quick.

it may be a good destination to hit for the first couple days then head out to where ever. i will be there for sure, and am plannin on bringing DL and klr. my dad is goin this year also with his tw200.
they also have a ralley in pisgah nc. in sept...and that one is even better.

Well, here's the thing...

Last saturday I tore my ACL playing basketball like a dumbass. I'm not even good at basketball, but my coworkers talked me into playing.

I've gotta get surgery on it, and that'll probably be soon, and then the physical therapy starts. I honestly don't know if I'll be ride-worthy by May. It's a long recovery process. I'm going to talk to the doctors on Monday, and I'll know more then.

:(

Sorry to hear that MZ. What type of graft are they planning to use to rebuild the ACL? Let me know if I can be of any help.

Not sure yet, we're going to go over the MRI on Monday afternoon and discuss the options. I'll be really depressed if I've got to miss this trip. I'm already bagging out of a sand volleyball league that I was joining in the spring, and I'm none too happy about that.

Good news!!!

I didn't tear my ACL, it was a kneecap dislocation. Physical therapy is coming, and hopefully I'll be ready to go by May!
