Howdy

Just bought a 2023 DL650 and it is cool! This is the base model. Their was one Adventure and 2 XT's but they went before I got to them. I don't mind the base model as I do not plan to do any off road.
I was torn on a couple of makes but finally picked the V-strom.
Sorry to admit it only has 9 miles on it. That will change quickly.
I'm old, short and not to good look'n. The only thing that bothers me is the short part. I'm a 30" inseam and this bike is just a Wee bit of a stretch. Looking to fix that.

All the reviews were great and after the first ride I can see why. Coming from a RoadKing. Great hwy but a pig for weight and then there's the dealers.

Looking forward to finding everything about this bike and getting back on the road.

Welcome to the forum.

I too came from a Road King to my 650V. The 400(+/-) pound weight difference has done wonders for my ailing hips. I miss the King but not the bulk.

I'm not sure how much research you've done for aftermarket accessories for your new bike but there are plenty of options to help you out with your inseam issues. Fellow forum member, Richlandrick and his company, Adventure Tech, has/have options that will help as well the multitude of other online sources. This forum is also a great resource for info,....if you don't find answers to your questions from past discussions, fellow members are quick to share their knowledge.

Cheers

Thanks.
I haven't thought to much about what I wanted to start adding to the bike. I just got a tank bag to store the small things.
Next would be some luggage that is waterproof. Not sure whether hard or soft yet. Then crash bar protection.
I have a hard box from the harley but the rear rack is not very big so I would need a plate to mount on the rack. Don't know if they have something like or not.
From the dealer to home my mesh jacked started shreading the rubber/plastic pieces. They just crumbled when I touched them so I'll see how much damage is there.
I have a couple of good rain suites so I'm hoping they still fit.
With the price of everything going up it might take some time to gather everything I need.
Looking forward to learning about the bike and how to ride it.
Thanks for the welcome.
Welcome to the Forum.
Thank you sir.
Got the bike, now the hard part. Reading through the forum.
Thanks for the welcome.
The Search Community at the top of the age is a handy tool, provided you use the correct wording in the search field, LOL.

Love the avatar. I watched Full Metal Jacket about a month after boot camp. The accuracy was impressive. Fortunetely the guy who totally lost in in our company only tried to drown himself in the toiliet.

Welcome to the forum ....also a 30" inseam....I wear which give me an extra inch.
And good grip. When the big tank is full ....slow speed turns can be a bit of a challenge as the bike feels top heavy.
If the camber on the surface is wrong can be exciting,

Thank you for the tip.
Haha. When I say 30" inseam I'm stretching the tape a bit.:)
I find the footrest and the shifter a little close together. It's probably cause I'm use to a little more room so I'll have to get use to it.
At this time, I'm wearing my hunting boots that I have had for quite a few years and they are doing pretty good.
I will keep my eye out for a different pair though.
Kinda sucks at times being elevated inhabited.
That was a big problem with the roadking. I put air shocks on it but the weight of the bike and an off-camber surface sure made it seem like I was in trouble a couple of times.

One of my top rated movies. I was there 67 - 68 and one of my co-workers lost it over a dear john. Really nice guy and didn't deserve that. But then it was a crazy place and crazier time.
