Some find the 20 minimum irritating, but it is to prevent scammers from applying for a forum membership, only to sell or trick folks. You will find that 20-number decreasing quickly once you start moving thru the different forum sub-topics and asking questions or inputting your own ideas on something. Think of it as a way for everyone to "get to know you"??

In fairness, he has been a member since 2021, so he is either a patient scammer or he presents little risk, depending on your perspective.

Also, some could claim that I am just padding my post count.

And normally one of the Mod's will catch stuff like this and unlock the account.
I posted 20 of my best pics to hit the mark
Mgb44,

what part of the country are you from?

@mgb44 I went to enable classifieds and messaging access to you but your last posts have just put you over the line so you are good to go.

Actually, I was an early member back around 2005 when I bought a 2005 V-Strom. I sort of dropped out when I bought a GS 1200. When I bought a 2020 650 XT Adventure in 2021 I rejoined. Too long to remember my old password or what user name. It was just easier to rejoin again.
I was frustrated at trying to contact seller of an item. When I finally was directed to the rules of the Marketplace, it made sense. Scammers are a real problem. I complied with the rules and completed a purchase of pair of boots.
Thanks for the help from forum members.

Lots of nice roads near my house. But one of my favorite is going through Danbury, around Hanging Rock, up to Meadows of Dan, Virginia, by way of Squirrel Spur Road, up the Blue Ridge Parkway, to Tuggles Gap and back down to Stuart VA and then back to home.

What's the longest trip you've ridden?
What's the longest trip you've ridden?
Winston-Salem NC to North Pole, Alaska, down the Alaskan Marine Highway to Bellingham, Washington, down through Oregon and the Redwoods (fantastic) to San Francisco and back home. Great trip.
That's a grand route you took. Much variety.

Did you ride a Strom on that trip?

No, 2005 BMW GS1200. Rode with a buddy of mine that we did a lot of riding together. He rode a BMW RT1200. We have ridden to 49 states together. Rode in the 50th state (Hawaii) At different times. We did Glacier National Park on way to Alaska. It was early July and Going to the Sun Road was still closed at top due to snow. Did Denali Park in Alaska and Redwood Forest in California. I visted my neice and her family in Anchorage. Her husband took us Halibut fishing and we actually caught our limit. It was a trip full of memories.
Going to the Sun, that's a fun ride. When I lived in Kalispell it was a day ride. It was a good 5 years there.

The '06 DL 1000 was my mount to AK and back in 2016. It didn't miss a lick and continues to serve me well. My riding partner on that trip was on a BMW, it too ran flawlessly.

What's your next big trip?

I really do not have any big trips planned at this moment. My riding buddy got remarried about 7 years ago and we have only been on short rides together since then. He gave up riding completely after a minor mishap 2 years ago. The people I ride with now are about my age (75) and have no desire for long trips. Other people I ride with are still working. However, I am considering doing a tour of the Alps with Beach's Motorcycle Adventures.

None planned at present due to several reasons. Age, Health, and lack of riding partners. However, I am considering another tour of the Alps with Beaches Motorcycle Adventures. I did their Alpine Adventure West in 2008 and really want to do it again. The Beaches are great people and run great tours. The Alps are fantastic. People over there respect motorcycles! They expect you to pass and actually pull over to let you around.
How about you? Any trips planned. Suzuki V-Stroms are great reliable bikes.

Mgb44,

We're the same age and very similar circumstances for riding partners; the old ones quit for health reasons and my nephew died unexpectedly at 49, he was a great riding partner who is sorely missed

Haven't planned any big trips yet for this year, still pondering on that. Last summer was for catching up on some family things that were delayed by the Covid shut down 2020, the forest fires 2021, and extended heat waves of 2022--I don't enjoy riding in +90F.

This may be a year to keep the moto ready, camp gear loaded, and just head out in a when the opportunity arises. Living in SE Washington there is good riding in every direction, cool coastal and cool mountains, as well as less densely populated forest and high desert. Time to get out my maps and start looking and planning.

Maybe it's time to think of long trips as a series of short trips connected
