I am searching for new handlebars for my 2008 DL650. I have narrowed to 2 options. Pro Taper SE Raptor bend vs Tusk ATV Sport bend. I know that the Raptor bend fits with stock cables as chronicled by WarHammer here: http://www.stromtrooper.com/v-strom-modifications-performance/36505-search-handlebar-perfection.html

RockyMountainATVmc.com has a great handlebar comparison chart here: Motorcycle, Dirt Bike, and ATV Handlebar Measurements and Information

The Pro Taper SE Raptor measurements are width 30.30" height 5.63" and pull back 3.41".
The Tusk ATV Sport bend are width 31.75" height 6.25" and pull back 3.50". Tusk being wider and taller.

My question: Do you think the Tusk bars will fit with stock length cables?

They are half the price but if they don't fit then buying extensions will negate the cost savings.

Anyone used the Tusk bars?

I just bought a DL1000 that had risers on it all ready and they are about three inches tall on stock bars and the cables appear to be stock length. So i would think those would work

I initially installed 2 inch Rox risers and later installed a 1 inch spacer so the bars would clear a Scotts stabilizer and all the cables reached with a bit of tweaking.
If your bike is abs you will have to extend your brake cable for sure.
This has been discussed before so a search might give you more info with pictures included.

These links are more to do with installing risers but will give you an idea on what to do with the cables.

I just wanted to follow up on this post. I purchased and installed the Tusk ATV sport bend handlebars. They fit with stock length cables. They made a huge difference in comfort for me. In my opinion this should be the first mod to any DL650. Pics to follow when I get time.
