I know the speedo is off on the Vstrom, but how accurate is the tach? Any known issues with it's accuracy or should I presume that 1,300rpm indicated idle is truly 1,300?

It's not really a fine gradation instrument. My tach needle shows a bit closer to the 1 mark than the 2 mark at idle and the OBD tool shows a digital readout of about 1325rpm.

Just curiosity and to accurately set my idle. I don't want to set it to what I think is the correct speed and find out it's actually low and not charging as it should at idle. Over the years I've had a dozen or so of my bikes on the same dyno and some tachs are accurate within roughly 50 rpm, a few were off by as much as 300 rpm at idle.

If you're worried about the charging output, install a voltmeter.
