Gents,
Here are some pics of the backrest and bracket that I made for my 03 Strom. I have the brackets for the factory bags installed so I made mine to clamp onto them that way I can take it off when the wife isn't with me. It's machined from 6061 aluminum, tig welded together and then polished to a satin finish. I ordered the pad from my local dealer.

Any concerns about it shifting on the other half while riding, it does seem a stop or additional bolt to clamp or machined groove for fitting to the racks tube might be in order but this is just based on the photos so I could be all wet on this.

I thought so too. I figured that when I got it in the position that my wife liked I would mill a couple of slots across the bars but after I tightened the 5/16 allen bolts it didn't move anywhere. We'll have to see what happens on a long ride. So far we've only been on some short trips.
